Hidemo Mod Cafe First

Hidemo05

Hidemo makes some nice Harley builds, and my favorite are their cafe racers, like this 1996 XL1200 Sportster.  She’s a good, solid design, and really takes advantage of the Harley engine to enhance the elemental look.  Nice touches like the turn signal placement and having the instrument gauge tucked tightly in add the to slimmed-down feel.  The battery placement looks really exposed, though!

Bull Motorcycles Deco Harley

Harley-Davidson-Sportster-Cafe-racer-00

Art Deco, a very polarizing style, is a pretty risky move in a custom build.  While in print, architecture, and automobiles it usually works excellently, motorcycles are a different story.  You don’t have acres of bodywork to sculpt into the defining strong lines of art deco, and not many can pull it off successfully.  Bull Motorcycles is one who can, and this 1995 Sportster XL1200 is a prime example of their prowess.

The subtle lines on the tank match the strong ribs on the engine case, and the swingarm is an art deco masterpiece.  Now add in the wonderfully unique exhaust and a one-off headlight, and a rolling tribute to the art deco style is the result.  To top it all off, the custom wheels are simply stunning, and I want a pair!

Flying Tiger XL1200

Rescued from Half-ass chopper hell, this 1996 Harley-Davidson XL1200 was taken in hand by Flying Tiger Motorcycle and turned into a gorgeous cafe racer.  I love it when someone takes a Harley and creates something that gets away from your typical H-D look.  You don’t automatically think “Harley” when you see this build, and that’s a good thing in my mind.  She has a very British feel, and it’s another job well done!
