The street tracker style is not one that I feature here very often. It’s just not my favorite look, and it’s kinda like what they say about art – I don’t know what’s good art, but I know what I like. This Kawasaki W650 is kinda like that. I like it, and there are levels to this build that are not immediately apparent until you really look at it.
The color choice seems a little plain at first, then you notice the black accents accentuating the tank’s curves. The orange shifts with the light, and almost looks gold in some shots. The white pearl on the headlight is an inspired choice, usual practice is a dark color for the headlight. Throw in the number plates on the side (with the numbers just off center for a little tension), the white piping on the seat, and the white handgrips, and you see that someone put a lot of thought into this cycle.
Welding is a skill that I have trouble with, but when I see the craftsmanship represented in this bike’s custom exhaust, I’m amazed. There’s just something sexy in well done welds, but I think people don’t feel that way unless they’ve done some welding themselves. The way the pipes curve around the frame gives the impression that they’re almost in an embrace, which just adds to the sexiness level!
So, as a rule, trackers are not really my style. But, every rule needs breaking every now and then.
