Ducati Biuta

There is a certain look to a lot of today’s bikes.  It’s a very layered effect, and many times it just doesn’t work for me.  Honda is the worst offender, with their CBR250R, NC700X, CB500X, and the CTX series.  They just are not what I’d call either beautiful nor intimidating, they’re just weird.  Too many bikes today leave me cold, and I think that’s part of the reason vintage customs are a growing segment of the  motorcycling populous.
This custom 2003 Ducati Multistrada 1000DS, from Carlos Roscio in Italy, points towards the way moto-design should go, in my opinion.  Called “Buita”, it looks modern yet retro at the same time, a strikes a very aggressive stance that won’t be ignored.  Kinda reminds me of Suzuki’s B-King!  The baby powder blue paint is a masterstroke, and the parts list for this bike reads like a Frankenstein recipe.
  • An Aprilia RSV inspired rear end
  • Two LED arrows embedded in tank from a Volkswagen Touran
  • Rearsets are aftermarket adjustable Buell units
  • Rear shock from a Honda CBR
  • Front forks from a Honda VTR SP2
  • Handlebars from an Aprilia RSV
  • Headlights from a Yamaha MT-03
All of it took two years to complete, and the result is a strong statement of individuality and craftsmanship.  Bravo!
